Communion

What time is worship?

10:15 on Sundays.

Is there a dress code?

Clothes are required. Shoes are optional. Some people wear jeans or shorts. Some wear their “Sunday best? "Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat; or about your body, what you will wear. Life is more than food, and the body more than clothes." (Matthew 6:25-34)

Will I have to do anything?

No one will require anything from you. In fact, if this is your only opportunity in the week for a much needed nap, by all means, nap. However, to worship God fully requires participating in prayer and singing, giving your attention to teaching moments, and sharing in the peace of Christ and Holy Communion.

Why do you sing songs?

We believe that God desires us to sing praises. "Shout for joy to the LORD, all the earth" (Psalm 100:1). There is a mystery to music that touches parts of the soul that can’t be reached any other way. As Augustine of Hippo said, "To sing once is to pray twice". So, “…be filled with the Spirit; Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord;?/em> (Ephesians 5:18)

What if I don’t know the words?

All of the words are printed either in the bulletin, hymnal, and/or projected on the screen.

What about bringing children?

Children are welcomed and encouraged. We begin the service with everyone in the sanctuary. Shortly after, there is a “Children’s Sermon? Some parents choose to send their children to the nursery where there is appropriate supervision over toys and games. Others choose for their children to remain in worship. We do not expect a two year old to sit still silently for an hour and no one will look at you funny if your toddler needs to stretch her legs or her lungs. We only expect that everyone (young and old) act their age. “Jesus said, ‘Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.’” (Matthew 19:14)

How long does the service last?

We start at 10:15 and end sometime between 11:00 and 12:00.

How often do you have communion?

There is no set schedule, but we have communion at least once a month, on the first Sunday of the month. We often have it on other weeks as the season warrants.

Who can take communion?

Anyone who earnestly repents of their sins and seeks to be in relationship with Jesus Christ.
